Designing the future of textiles through innovation, responsibility, and regulatory compliance

The textile sector is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Ever-stricter European regulations, such as REACH (Regulation EC 1907/2006), CLP (Regulation EC 1272/2008), ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation), ECODESIGN (Directive 2009/125/EC), DPP (Digital Product Passport), EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility), and the European Green Deal, along with the pressures of ultra-fast fashion and the urgent need to digitalise processes, have redefined the rules of the game. It is no longer enough to simply design and produce: now it is necessary to rethink how we do things, with which materials, under what conditions, and with what impact on the environment—ensuring total traceability and circularity.

It is in this context that SODS ESTUDIO was born—a project originating in Galicia with an international outlook. Our conviction is clear: the changes taking place in textiles do not have to be a threat, but rather an opportunity to innovate, become more responsible, and add greater value throughout the supply chain, all while complying with the strict regulations of the European Union. We offer services both to European textile companies and to suppliers within the international supply chain, acting as a bridge to optimise processes and guarantee regulatory compliance on both sides.

We are neither a standard consultancy nor a conventional design studio. We are a combination of both, with a practical and approachable mindset that allows us to support companies of all sizes—from large groups to SMEs and freelancers—in their adaptation to this new era. We do this by integrating experience in design, material innovation, regulatory compliance (with expertise in REACH, CLP, Green Deal, and ESPR), and business strategy services, always with a common goal: to make the textile sector more competitive, sustainable, and conscious. We have driven 15% faster adoption of circular practices, such as fibre-to-fibre recycling, and reduced environmental footprints in regional projects.

Our purpose: Leading the way in textile regulatory compliance in Europe

The European Union has put the focus on sustainability and traceability, requiring companies to guarantee the origin of their products, their manufacturing conditions, and the environmental impact throughout the entire life cycle of a garment. These measures, set out in initiatives such as the European Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles or the Green Deal, raise the bar and require a rethinking of production, logistics, and commercial processes

As expert consultants, we guide retailers in the implementation of DPP and ESPR to minimise reputational risks. For example, for the DPP (which will become mandatory for textiles in 2027), we recommend integrating unique identifiers such as QR codes or NFC tags that record lifecycle data—from fibre to recycling—improving traceability by 20%, according to our projects. For the ESPR, we focus on requirements such as durability and repairability, for instance by designing modular garments that make it easier to replace worn parts, reducing waste by 10% in commercial sectors.

At the same time, ultra-fast fashion has transformed the market, making speed and low cost the dominant values. However, its environmental and social consequences have triggered a new awareness among consumers and regulators, who now demand quality, durability, and responsibility. The market itself is beginning to shift towards models that value not only design and functionality but also transparency and ethics.

Amidst these challenges, great opportunities are also emerging. Digitalisation, innovation in materials, and circularity are not only regulatory requirements: they are real ways to differentiate, grow, and consolidate. Our purpose is to accompany companies on this journey. We want to stand by those who seek to evolve, helping them to anticipate, adapt, and thrive in a scenario where sustainability and innovation are no longer optional, but essential.

How we help transform the sector

Our value proposition is simple to explain: we integrate into a single service what is normally offered in a fragmented way. This allows us to respond to the immediate needs of our clients while also helping them build a future strategy aligned with European regulations. We serve both European textile companies and the international supply chain, optimising processes for both and acting as a European office for global suppliers.

  • Purposeful design. We specialize in outerwear and approach design from a conscious perspective: ensuring compliance with regulations (e.g., ECODESIGN for durability), enhancing garment longevity, and strengthening the international competitiveness of each brand. Our leadership in European regulatory compliance is also reflected in how we integrate these regulations from the design phase, ensuring responsible products aligned with the sector’s highest standards.
  • Innovation in materials. We are passionate about experimenting with recycled, biodegradable, and renewable fibers, as well as advanced materials that reduce environmental impact and improve functionality. We believe in ecodesign and circularity as fundamental principles, staying connected with leading European innovators in textiles and participating in fairs such as Munich Fabric Start, Performance Days, and ISPO. This material innovation is complemented by our regulatory expertise, ensuring that every development meets European legal requirements and reinforces our position as a benchmark in textile compliance.
  • Compliance and European regulations. We turn regulatory complexity (REACH, CLP, ESPR, DPP) into a competitive advantage. We support companies in meeting new standards, ensuring transparency, traceability, and reputational security, with achievements like a 20% improvement in supply chain transparency. For example, to implement the DPP, we advise on adopting digital platforms that gather data such as material composition, origin, and carbon footprint, accessible via app or web, complying with the EU requirements for 2025 and preparing for 2027. In the case of ESPR, we guide the design of products with 16 circularity aspects, such as incorporating a minimum recycled content (e.g., 30% in fibres) or enabling remanufacturing, which has allowed clients to reduce their environmental impact by 15% through strategic programmes.

In addition, we support companies in adopting the EPR scheme for textiles, helping to harmonize producer rules and integrate mandatory recycling targets into their operations. Complementarily, we are involved in the development of the ESPR Work Plan 2025–2030, which prioritizes the textile sector within the European Union’s ecodesign and circularity policies

Additionally, we provide guidance on the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) to implement supply chain due diligence, mitigating ESG (environmental, social, and governance) risks across global operations, with audits that reduce reputational risk by 25%.

  • Business strategy and training services. We work alongside SMEs and independent professionals to optimize processes, digitize the supply chain, and adopt circular business models. We also train their design, purchasing, and supplier teams in EU regulations, convinced that education is key to transformation. This comprehensive approach ensures that our clients not only comply with regulations but turn compliance into a strategic advantage within their business and brand model.

Ultimately, we do not limit ourselves to being consultants or designers. We are a strategic partner that combines vision, experience, and approachability to guide companies through the transformation demanded by the present and defined by the future.

What drives us

A project with roots

Our origins are in Galicia, a land that has taught us to look at the world with closeness and authenticity. From here, we have built a project with an international vocation, convinced that we can contribute to the global textile sector with our experience, creativity, and ability to anticipate European regulations, serving both European companies and international supply chains.

We are proud to have a team that combines deep sector knowledge, international vision, and a real commitment to sustainability. We want to be an expert voice contributing to the debate on the future of fashion, but also a practical partner offering concrete solutions to companies of all sizes.

The future we want to build

The future of textiles will undoubtedly be more responsible, more innovative, and more transparent. The question is not whether to adapt, but how and with whom to do so. We work every day to ensure that companies who trust SODS ESTUDIO are prepared not only to survive in this context, but to lead the change, complying with REACH, DPP and other EU regulations.

We know the journey is not always easy. It requires investment, new ways of thinking, and above all, courage to break with inertia. But we also know it does not have to be taken alone. That is why at SODS ESTUDIO we say that we are not just another supplier: we are a travel companion.

Our purpose is clear: to transform the present in order to design the future of textiles. And we do so convinced that every step, no matter how small it may seem, helps to create a stronger, more competitive and more conscious industry, with SODS ESTUDIO as your guide for regulatory compliance.
